Welcome to the Mid Centurion

Welcome to The Mid Centurion, I’m Kirsty and I’m just crazy about all things Mid-Century Vintage.
Whether it’s Bitossi, Catherineholm, Barsony, Kalmar, Parker, Pyrex or Pandar. A Junghans starburst clock, Shabner, Tretchikoff, Lynch or Bragolin print I am all about it. Let me introduce you to a world of kitschy, retro and vintage wonders. You’ll be saying “My Nan had one of those” before you know it.  Pour your self a cup of tea in a Fire King peach lustre mug and have a good look around, you’ll be glad you did.  Don’t be afraid to reach out via email because I have heaps of great connections with fellow enthusiasts and dealers, I just might be able to point you in the right direction. Enjoy

What are Mid- Century Collectables and why we do what we do.

Mid-century decor collectibles are items from the mid-20th century (approximately 1945 to 1965) that are considered to be of value or interest to collectors. Mid-century decor is often associated with the mid-century modern design movement, which was a style that emerged in the 1940s and 1950s and was characterized by clean lines, simplicity, and a focus on functionality.

Mid-century decor collectibles can include a wide variety of items, such as furniture, lighting, ceramics, glassware, and other decorative objects. Some popular mid-century decor collectibles include:

Furniture: Mid-century furniture is known for its clean lines, simple forms, and use of materials such as wood, metal, and plastic. Popular mid-century furniture designers include Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, and Eero Saarinen.

Lighting: Mid-century lighting is known for its sleek, modern design and use of materials such as metal and plastic. Popular mid-century lighting designers include George Nelson and Joe Colombo.

Ceramics: Mid-century ceramics are often colorful and feature abstract or geometric designs. Popular mid-century ceramicists include Eva Zeisel and Rose Cabat.

Glassware: Mid-century glassware is often colorful and features abstract or geometric designs. Popular mid-century glassware designers include Empoli and Murano.

Other decorative objects: Mid-century decor collectibles can also include other decorative objects such as clocks, wall art, and textiles.

Overall, mid-century decor collectibles are a unique and stylish way to add character and personality to any home, and they are highly sought after by collectors for their beauty, craftsmanship, and historical significance.

If we had $1 for every time someone came into the shop and said "Oh I Remember Those", or "That Reminds Me of My Mum" or "Oh I Had One Of Those And Took It To The Tip!" we could retire yesterday.  Only joking!  This is our plan in  retirement! :)
